It turns out that Miles Teller’s version of Reed Richards (a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic) in Josh Trank’s upcoming “The Fantastic Four” reboot will have a different explanation for his elastic ability in the film.
The official site for the film has undergone an update in its character bio sections to reveal that his stretching isn’t due to changes in his cell malleability but rather that he changes the space around him:
“Reed Richards is a scientific prodigy who has been quietly exploring the universe’s deepest mysteries in his garage, after school. After being transformed by one of his experiments, he can warp the space around him, and appear to stretch his body into impossible forms and to incredible lengths.”
The new explanation is NOT the same as that in the Ultimate Marvel Comics line which seems to be the basis for much of his new version of the film in which inter-dimensional travel give these characters their powers.
“Fantastic Four” will be in cinemas on August 7th.
