20th Century Fox has tidied up its 2014 and 2015 schedule today with the biggest news being the announcement of a July 3rd 2015 release for Roland Emmerich’s “Independence Day” sequel.
The company has also setup the Michael Fassbender-led video game adaptation “Assassin’s Creed” for a June 19th 2015 release, and the adaptation of Ransom Riggs’ children’s novel “Peregrine’s Home for Peculiars” for July 31st 2015.
Meanwhile, they’ve also swapped their two 2014 Summer tentpoles around with “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” now slated for May 23rd 2014 and July 18th 2014 respectively.
Over at rival Universal Pictures, Joe Carnahan’s limousine-set “Stretch” is now scheduled to hit theaters on March 21st 2014.
Finally, Open Road Films has pushed back Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete Kills” from September 13th to October 4th, and the Jason Statham-led “Homefront” from October 4th to November 27th.
