Two of next Summer’s horror films have set new dates.
Filmmaker Ari Aster, whose “Hereditary” has become one of the year’s most talked about horror films and one of its most acclaimed films overall, will see his next feature set for release on August 9th next year.
Once again being distributed by A24, the Scandinavian folk horror film stars Jack Reynor and Florence Pugh as a couple that travels to Sweden to visit their friend’s rural hometown for its fabled mid-summer festival – only to find the idyllic retreat devolving into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition run by a pagan cult.
Will Poulter and William Jackson Harper co-star in the film which will shoot in Hungary.
The announcement comes shortly after Nicolas Pesce’s “Grudge,” the reboot of the Sony horror franchise based on the Japanese supernatural thriller series, left its August 16th 2019 date and has now found a new berth on June 21st next year – going up against “Toy Story 4”.
