This week the Wachowski siblings return to cinemas with “Jupiter Ascending,” an overly ambitious $175 million-budget sci-fi tale that so far has been getting rather poor reviews. Many of the complaints seem to be that the film falls back on very conventional and banal narrative elements and structure.
The pair’s next project though, the Netflix limited series “Sense8,” likely won’t receive such complaints. Shot all over the world, the series focuses on eight people scattered around the globe who are connected by a shared violent vision. Each episode will follow a character’s separate tale with both good and bad entities trying to get them.
Though primarily sci-fi, the pair tell io9 that it’s more about “everything”. Lana goes on to say: “We told Netflix we were like, ‘We’re only interested in doing this. It’s going to be so hard, it’s not very much money. We’re only interested in it if we can do anything. And I mean anything. Like crazy psychic orgies with all sorts of different bodies.’ And they were like, ‘Yeah sure, cool great.'”
Andy adds: “We have live births… Babies coming out of vaginas… Tune in. In May, you’ll see.”
