Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” has an interesting production schedule. The show shot its first season (a total of 20 episodes) in two halves back-to-back from March-December 2018 with the first half airing October 2018 and the second half airing April 2019.
The series was renewed for another big season, this time 16 episodes in total which is once again being split in two. Production on those began in May this year and is expected to continue through until February next year. Judging by those dates it means we’ll probably be getting the episodes around January and July 2020.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour this weekend, creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa pretty much confirms that a Halloween premiere for those first eight episodes is off the cards:
“I don’t actually know [when Season 3 will premiere]. I don’t think we’d be ready for Halloween. I have no idea, not a clue. We are writing Episode 8, we are starting to shoot Episode 6, so we’re nearing the halfway mark. And that’s been going great. I’m really proud of those episodes. They’re really, really fun.”
The end of the show’s second volume teased darker times ahead with Sabrina going down to Hell in a mission to rescue her boyfriend, Nick. Aguirre-Sacasa promises: “I think it’s safe to say that we are going to Hell, yes. We’re going to Hell. It’s very fun. It’s very fun. It’s dangerous, but it’s really fun.”
