Actor Joel Courtney has confirmed that a sequel to Netflix’s 2018 young adult rom-com hit “The Kissing Booth” is officially going forward.
Courtney told followers: “Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! It’s official” and co-star Joey King responded: “YUP!!! WE ARE GETTING A SEQUEL!!!”. The sequel will reunite many of the team that made the original breakout hit, including those two and Jacob Elordi.
The film was a smash hit on Netflix with chief content officer Ted Sarandos saying that at one point it was one of the most watched films around the world at the time.
The first film was adapted from a Beth Reekles novel and directed by Vince Marcello who will return to helm the new movie from a screenplay written by him and Jay Arnold.
Marcello and Michele Weisler, Andrew Cole-Bulgin and Edward Glauser will produce with filming to begin later this year ahead of a likely 2020 release.
Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!
