In a massive deal, Netflix has announced their biggest original film to date – setting aside over $90 million for the David Ayer-directed, Max Landis-scripted fantasy cop feature “Bright”.
Will Smith and Joel Edgerton star in the film which takes place in a fantasy realm and follows an Orc cop – the movie described as “End of Watch” in a “Lord of the Rings”-style setting and with an R-rating. Production is slated to begin this Fall in Los Angeles.
While there could be a limited theatrical launch day and date, this is being done to serve subscribers to its streaming service in countries around the world. Eric Newman, Ayer, Landis and Bryan Unkeless will produce.
