Netflix has acquired the rights to sci-fi author Paolo Bacigalupi’s short story “Mika Model” for Laps 21 Entertainment and is in talks with David Weil (“Moonfall”) to adapt the script. Shawn Levy will produce.
The story begins with a young woman – or robot – walking into a police station and is the first in a series of short stories about how technology and science will change our lives.
The streaming giant has also announced “Sacred Games,” a gritty Hindi- and English-language thriller series it will produce with Phantom Films. Shot on location in Mumbai, the series looks into intricate web of organized crime, corruption, politics and espionage which lies beneath India’s economic renaissance.
Finally, Netflix has used its social media account to confirm that it has renewed its first French original series “Marseille” for a second season.
