Netflix has announced its July premieres and in the process revealed the launch dates of two major films.
The first is the long-delayed and still mostly secret period rescue mission drama “The Red Sea Diving Resort” starring Chris Evans. Shot in 2017, the film has been in limbo ever since until Netflix bought the global rights (excluding China) in February. Now they’ve finally set a July 31st date for the film’s opening.
Evans plays Ari Kidron, the Mossad agent who led ‘Operation Brothers’ in the early 80’s – liberating thousands of Jewish Ethiopians from refugee camps in Sudan by using a deserted vacation resort as a front for five years in order to smuggle the imprisoned Ethiopians into the Promised Land.
Haley Bennett, Alessandro Nivola, Greg Kinnear, Michiel Huisman, Michael Kenneth Williams and Sir Ben Kingsley co-star in the film which “Homeland” co-creator Gideon Raff directs.
The other is “Another Life,” the Kate Sackhoff-led sci-fi drama series which premieres on Thursday, July 25th. Sackhoff plays astronaut Niko Breckinridge who leads a young crew on a mission to explore the genesis of an alien artifact, and faces unimaginable danger on what might very well be a one-way mission.
Selma Blair, Tyler Hoechlin, Justin Chatwin, Samuel Anderson, Elizabeth Faith Ludlow, Jessica Camacho, Jake Abel and Alex Ozerov co-star. The project hails from “Killjoys” producer Aaron Martin.
