Netflix has released some more numbers crowing about some of its success stories during the first quarter of this year.
In the company’s first quarter earnings report today, the streamer says the first season of “Umbrella Academy” was watched by 45 million households in its first month. Netflix considers an episode as ‘viewed’ if at least one episode has been watched at least 70% of the way through.
Also faring well were the film “Triple Frontier” with 52 million first month views, the Costner/Harrelson vehicle “The Highwaymen” which was seen by over 40 million in its first month, the doco series “Our Planet” with over 25 million views, and the feature doco “Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened” which had over 20 million views.
The reveal comes as Netflix is set to begin testing Top 10 lists of the most popular content across multiple categories in the U.K. this quarter – letting people know what others are watching. Should it go well, the test will expand to further countries.
During the quarter, the company added 9.6 million new subscribers – more than ever before.
