With the Zac Efron-led film “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil & Vile” launching at Sundance and a recent documentary series from Netflix, talk of brutal serial killer Ted Bundy has come up again lately – and not the kind you might expect.
Both ‘Vile’ and the doco series deal with Bundy’s murder of over three dozen women. Yet there’s also a ton of talk sweeping the Internet about something unexpected – his attractiveness. Basically, a bunch of people are hot for the guy, the original man (who died three decades ago) and not just pin-up boy Efron in the role.
It has gotten so bad that Netflix has issued a tweet statement saying: “I’ve seen a lot of talk about Ted Bundy’s alleged hotness and would like to gently remind everyone that there are literally THOUSANDS of hot men on the service – almost all of whom are not convicted serial murderers.”
Netflix has been one of the biggest proponents of true crime series and films in recent years so that, and Efron’s casting, can be partly to blame. While people may want to bone him, critics aren’t impressed with both the Netflix series and ‘Vile’ scoring very mixed reviews.
