Netflix’s anime push continues to only swell with news today of a new “Ghost in the Shell” anime series which they will distribute worldwide in 2020.
The original Japanese manga told of a fictional counter-cyberterrorist organization in the mid-21st century with the property adapted into anime film and TV projects, and a 2017 live-action feature.
The new series, titled “Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045,” is a collaboration of Production I.G. and SOLA Digital Arts will be helmed by Kenji Kamiyama (“Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex”) & Shinji Araki (“Appleseed”).
The addition of the ‘Ghost’ adds to a robust anime slate in the near future including the long-awaited streaming debut of the iconic 1990s anime “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” a new “Ultraman” anime series, a live-action “Cowboy Bebop” adaptation, and anime adaptations of “Blade Runner,” “Altered Carbon” and “Pacific Rim” along with numerous other new works.
