The Swedish film thriller trilogy “Snabba Cash” (aka. Easy Money) is getting a follow-up as a six-part TV series for Netflix.
Based on the books by Jens Lapidus, the story follows a young man drawn into the world of crime – driven by a craving for status and money. As the worlds of the entrepreneurial jet set and the criminal collide, loyalty, friendships and business partners will all be tested in the never-ending quest for easy money.
Daniel Epsinosa helmed the first “Snabba Cash” film in 2010, the movie launching the career of actor Joel Kinnaman (“Altered Carbon,” “Suicide Squad”). Kinnaman returned for two sequels in 2012 & 2013.
Warner Bros. Pictures previously picked up rights for an English-language film remake of the franchise but has not yet moved into production, so Netflix stepped in and signed a deal with Lapidus.
As a result, they’re now doing this six-part series set in the same world but ten years after the events of the films. Lapidus and screenwriter Oskar Soderlund will co-write the series which is being produced by SF Studios.
