Veteran American independent filmmakers Jay and Mark Duplass (“Creep,” “Jeff Who Lives At Home,” “The One I Love”) has crafted a new agreement with Netflix that gives the streaming giant worldwide rights to their next four upcoming films.
The first film, about a bittersweet bromance between characters played by Mark Duplass and Ray Romano, will be released later this year and centers on themes of friendship, mortality, and made-up sports. Alex Lehmann (“Blue Jay”) helmed and co-wrote the film.
In 2015, Netflix signed an SVOD deal with the brothers that included “Blue Jay,” “Take Me,” “Creep 2” and the upcoming “Duck Butter” and “Outside In”. That pact was for exclusive worldwide SVOD distribution rights following a short theatrical release – the new deal goes beyond that.
