Netflix has picked up the rights to “Super-Normal,” the upcoming superhero project starring “Star Wars” star Daisy Ridley and reuniting “Beauty and the Beast” scene stealers Luke Evans and Josh Gad.
Described as a character-driven, subversive take on the genre, the project hit the town late last month and generated instant interest and a bid from Disney among other studios.
Gad originated the idea, then developed it with Aaron and Jordan Kandell (“Moana”) who penned the script. Gad then enlisted his former co-stars for the project which Gad, Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin will produce and Evans will executive produce.
The acquisition comes after earlier this week the streaming giant picked up “Train to Busan” director Yeon Sang-ho’s next film “Psychokinesis” with plans for a global 2018 release. That film follows a father who sets out to save his troubled daughter with superpowers that he discovers he possesses.
