Netflix continues its aggressive push into the theatrical film distribution arena with the video streaming giant reportedly forking out $12 million for world rights to Cary Fukunaga’s “Beasts Of No Nation”.
Based on Uzodinma Iweala’s novel, Idris Elba stars in the film about a child soldier in an unnamed West African nation who is commandeered by a warlord after militants kill his father.
Participant Media produced the $6 million-budget project and Netflix will partner on a theatrical push for the film in order for it to qualify for awards consideration. The film will get a day-and-date release on Netflix streaming as well.
