Netflix has made it a point to say that they haven’t yet announced a premiere date for their “Marvel’s The Punisher” series, teasing only a release sometime later this year.
Now, in the wake of the recent Las Vegas mass shooting and the pulling of the show’s panel from New York Comic Con this weekend, Newsday reports that Netflix may delay the launch of the series for a few weeks – to either mid-late November or December.
Leaks the other week suggested the show was targeting a Friday, October 13th release with the streamer potentially going to do a “surprise, it’s here” announcement at Comic Con and go even earlier.
However, the story of a brutal antihero gladly killing anyone in his way with a massive arsenal of guns isn’t the best character to explore on screen in the days after the country’s biggest mass shooting. A spokeswoman for Netflix tells the outlet: “We never announced a premiere date and have not yet.”
Jon Bernthal stars as Frank Castle, a former Marine captain turned vigilante who witnesses a gangland execution of his wife and children. The character was introduced in the second season of “Daredevil”.
