NBCUniversal International Studios is teaming with “Glitch” and “The Slap” creator Tony Ayres, writer Christian White and “Harry Potter” franchise producer David Heyman for the eight-episode character-based thriller “Clickbait” which will be made for Netflix.
The story explores the ways in which our most dangerous and uncontrolled impulses are fuelled in the age of social media and reveals the ever-widening fractures found between virtual and real-life personas.
Ayres serves as the creator, showrunner and executive producer, working with co-creator co-producer and writer White. The series will be shot in Melbourne and Brad Anderson (“The Sinner”) serves as the lead director while Tom Winchester also executive producers.
This marks the second Australian drama series the global streaming giant has commissioned out of Australia following “Tidelands”. This production will bring more than $36 million of international investment, engage around 540 cast, crew and extras, and use the services of around 290 local businesses.
