Netflix has signed a new four-film deal with comedian Adam Sandler to create original features exclusively for its streaming service which Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions will produce.
The deal comes over two years after Netflix first inked a four-film deal with Sandler in 2014. Two of the four films of that deal, “The Ridiculous 6” and “The Do-Over,” have been the biggest film releases ever for the service. Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer says in a statement:
“Adam Sandler is one of the leading comedians in the film world, and his movies have proven to be extremely successful with our subscribers around the world. We are thrilled at the opportunity to extend our partnership with Adam and his entire team at Happy Madison and keep the world laughing.”
The third film in what is now Sandler’s eight-film contract for Netflix is “Sandy Wexler” which will premiere on the streaming giant on April 14th.
