Following Netflix’s much buzzed about success in 2015 with its true crime documentary series “Making a Murderer,” it has been revealed that a sequel series is in the works – one that’s in addition to a second season of “Making a Murderer” which is also on the way.
This sequel series, titled “Convicting a Murderer,” will present a whole new side of the case involving Steven Avery and aims to address criticisms lobbed at the previous show for being too one-sided in its coverage. Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos created the original series.
The series comes from documentary filmmaker Shawn Rech who will have “unprecedented access to District Attorney Ken Kratz, Lead Investigator Tom Fassbender, and other major players in State v. Avery.” Many on the law enforcement side of the case either could not, or would not, participate in the previous series but are involved here.
No word as yet on when either “Convicting a Murderer” or “Making a Murderer” S2 will return beyond a late 2018 bow.
