NBC’s “Powerless” Loses Its Showrunner

Ben Queen, the creator/executive producer and showrunner of the upcoming DC Comics-themed NBC comedy series “Powerless,” is exiting the program.

Start of production on the midseason series was to begin in a fortnight but has now been postponed as a search is underway for a new showrunner. The delay is not expected to impact the launch of the show as the premiere date for the program had yet to be announced.

Queen’s departure from the single-camera workplace comedy was said to be a mutual decision due to creative differences. Vanessa Hudgens stars as a spunky young insurance adjuster specializing in regular-people coverage against damage caused by the crime-fighting superheroes.

Danny Pudi, Alan Tudyk and Christina Kirk also star.
