NBC has picked up the high-concept drama spec script “The Ark” from 20th Century Fox TV and Robert Zemeckis’ ImageMovers company.
Daniel Kunka (“12 Rounds”) penned the project described as a “grounded, modern retelling of the Noah’s Ark story. The action follows an engineer who, after the death of his wife, has a vision to construct a ship capable of sustaining life in space.
The build happens to coincide with the coming end of the world and the engineer soon realizes there may be a larger story at play. Zemeckis, Jack Rapke, Adam Kolbrenner and Robyn Meisinger will executive produce the project which began as a cable drama but moved to the broadcast studio.
Kunka recently adapted the classic arcade game “Space Invaders” for Warner Bros. Pictures along with selling the spec script “Bermuda Triangle” to them with Chuck Roven attached to produce that.
