NBC and Universal Television will team with One Race Television and Chris Morgan Productions to develop a reboot of Michael Mann’s iconic 1980s police series “Miami Vice”.
One Race Television is Vin Diesel’s production company while Chris Morgan has penned six of the “Fast and the Furious” films to date. No executive producers have been set yet, but one or both men could board the project in that capacity.
The original starred Don Johnson as James ‘Sonny’ Crockett and Philip Michael Thomas as Ricardo Tubbs, two Miami narcotics detectives who busted crooks from 1984-1990 over the course of five seasons and one hundred and twelve episodes.
Peter Macmanus will write the script, based on the original series as opposed to Mann’s 2006 film adaptation.
