“Fast and the Furious” film series scribe Chris Morgan has setup three new police drama series with NBC, one of them in particular evoking the car racing turned heist franchise.
That project? “MSU: Motorcycle Specialty Unit” which will be executive produced by “Transformers” actor Josh Duhamel and producer Heather Zuhlke (“Power”). The high-octane police drama follows an elite unit of LAPD motor cops on a dangerous assignment. Along the way they navigate their relationships and the city with humor.
The second is “Darwin’s Blade” which is based on the Dan Simmons novel and will be co-written by Morgan and Duane Swierczynski. The story follows Darwin ‘Dar’ Minor, a brilliant yet arrogant accident-reconstruction specialist who consults police on the bizarre cases no one else can solve.
Lastly there’s “Walkaways,” which will be written and executive produced by “Chicago Fire” duo Andrea Newman and Michael Gilvary. That follows two disgraced NYC police detectives paired up to redeem themselves by solving the department’s toughest and most radioactive ‘walkaway’ cases.
All three projects come from Universal Television and will be executive produced by Morgan and Ainsley Davies. The three join the “Miami Vice” reboot in development at NBC which Morgan executive produces with Vin Diesel.
