NBC has bought a script for a TV series based on both the Jeffery Deaver novel and the Phil Noyce-directed 1999 psychological thriller “The Bone Collector”.
The story follows Lincoln Rhyme, a retired genius forensic criminologist left paralyzed after an accident on the job. When a harrowing case brings him back to the force, Rhyme partners up with an ambitious young detective, Amelia Sachs, to take down some of the most dangerous criminals in the U.S.
Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie played the roles in the film which grossed $151 million worldwide. Deaver penned eleven books in the series so far following Rhyme and Sachs.
VJ Boyd and Mark Bianculli will serve as writers and executive producers on the series which Universal Television and Sony Pictures Television will produce. Avi Nir, Alon Shtruzman, Peter Traugott, and Rachel Kaplan will also executive produce.
