NBC Plans A “Sneakers” TV Series

Too Many Secrets. NBC is reportedly planning a TV series based on Phil Alden Robinson’s beloved 1992 caper film “Sneakers”.

Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier, Ben Kingsley, Mary McDonnell, Dan Aykroyd and River Phoenix co-starred in the film about a gang of thieves who used high tech means to break into the businesses of the clients who hired them to expose any security weaknesses.

Things take a dark turn when the crew signs up for a gig with NSA to retrieve a black box from a mathematical genius, only for bodies to start piling up and for an old betrayal to rear its ugly head.

“The Mentalist” executive producer Tom Szentgyorgyi, husband/wife producing duo Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, and Universal TV are teaming for this small screen version. Parkes co-wrote the original film with Robinson and Lawrence Lasker.
