NBC has begun development of an hourlong romantic comedy TV series based on the 2001 John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale-led film “Serendipity” with Miramax Television producing.
Written and executive produced by Jonny Umansky, the series follows Harry and Claire who fall in love one fateful night, are separated by circumstance and then spend years trying to find one another again – with a little help from the universe.
Caitlin Foito of Miramax says in a statement: “We are privileged to be working alongside Jonny, who has invented a relentlessly optimistic romantic comedy cinematic universe. His creative take and adaptation of Serendipity will be a sure-fire win for everyone involved in this unique project.”
Miramax had been looking to mine its movie titles for potential TV remakes, with FOX developing a pilot for a “Gone Baby Gone” series back in 2017.
