Last week an off hand comment sent rumors swirling that game company Naughty Dog was at work on a sequel to the highly acclaimed survival game “The Last of Us”.
Today, Naughty Dog has decided to clear the air and it seems the talk wasn’t all bull. Creative director Neil Druckmann tells the Official PlayStation Magazine (via Games Radar) that sequel possibilities have been considered along with ideas for other games:
“The answer is – and this is totally honest, and I’ve said this in the past – that when Bruce [Straley] and I moved over to Uncharted 4, we were brainstorming ideas for The Last Of Us 2 with new characters; ideas for TLOU 2 with Joel and Ellie; ideas for a sci-fi game; ideas for a fantasy game, and building prototypes for each one of those ideas. And just as we were getting close to settling or narrowing that list down, we were asked to work on Uncharted 4.”
Druckmann and Straley came onboard the final “Uncharted” following the departure of Amy Hennig and Justin Richmond. Straley and Druckmann reportedly scrapped eight months of work when they took over the game because “they wanted their own flavor.”
“Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” will launch worldwide on March 18th of next year and Naughty Dog won’t know what their next game is until “a few months after” that game is finished.
