In the promotional lead-up to the release of PlayStation 4’s major exclusive “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End,” it has been made pretty clear that this will be game studio Naughty Dog’s final title in the series.
That said, Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann tells Games Radar that he’s fine with another studio picking up where they left off – so long as the quality doesn’t slip:
“If they made a great game I’d be excited. I’d want to play an Uncharted I didn’t work on. It’d be a lot of fun… Obviously we would have a big part in it as the creators of the franchise, we’d just want to make sure they get the essence of it right. Uf there’s a studio that can do that then great. If not then it’s okay that this is the last one.”
A move like this wouldn’t be unprecedented. SCE Bend Studio were behind the PlayStation Vita’s exclusive “Uncharted: Golden Abyss” and the strategic turn-based card game “Uncharted: Fight for Fortune”. Bluepoint Games was behind the recent PS4 remastering job done to the first three games in the series.
For now though “Uncharted 4” is set for a May 10th release.
