Over the years there’s been talk of film adaptations of the “Uncharted” video game franchise, and at the top of many people’s casting list is former “Castle” and “Firefly” star Nathan Fillion.
These days Fillion, now 47, is seen as arguably too old for the role of adventurer Nathan Drake. Indeed at last report the studio is proceeding with an origin story take on the property and are going much younger with Drake, opting to hire “Spider-Man” star Tom Holland in the role.
However, a recent social media post from Fillion has started the rumor mill churning once again with the actor posting a photo of rapper Drake along with the Latin phrase ‘Sic Parvis Magna’ and the date of this coming Monday July 16th. That phrase, which translates as ‘great things come from small beginnings’, is found on the coat of arms of Sir Francis Drake – the ancestor of Nathan Drake in the game series.
Is Fillion onboard the project after all in some way? If so there are numerous possibilities – he could be Drake’s mentor Sully, he could be a villain, or he could be playing an older version of Nathan Drake for framing scenes with most of the film being told in flashback with Holland.
Fillion is committed to ABC’s cop drama “The Rookie” for the near future so his involvement in a major tentpole film beyond a small appearance would depend heavily upon scheduling. That or this post is an appreciation of Drake’s new album “Scorpion” which dropped a few weeks ago.
