Netflix has officially given its drug trade drama series “Narcos” a two-season renewal with the show picked up for a third season in 2017 and fourth in 2018.
The pick up comes in the wake of the second season’s release last Friday, a season which wraps up the original storyline of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. It’s not clear what the new season will be about but the most frequently cited guess is a focus on the Cali Cartel.
José Padilha (“Elite Squad,” “RoboCop”) and Eric Newman (“Children of Men”) will continue to serve as executive producers of the series which, unlike many other shows which premiered in 2015, has not seen a critical backlash in its sophomore season.
The pick up also marks a rare multi-season renewal by Netflix. Check out the announcement trailer below:
