Names Floated For “Dirty Dancing” Remake

Its only been a day since the director was announced but already potential favourites have emerged for who might be playing the lead roles in the remake of “Dirty Dancing”.

The Sun reports that Cheryl Cole’s ex-beau and “Dancing with the Stars” professional dancer Derek Hough is heavily pursuing the role of Johnny Castle which Patrick Swayze played in the original. “The Devil’s Double” actor Dominic Cooper, “Gossip Girl” star Chace Crawford and to a lesser extent “Glee” teacher Matthew Morrison are also said to be under consideration.

“Glee” actress Lea Michele is reportedly being pushed to play Frances “Baby” Houseman which Jennifer Grey played in the first film. Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus are also said to be under consideration.

The Kenny Ortega-directed feature is slated to begin production next year.
