Murray, Durand Go To “Fruitvale”

Chad Michael Murray (“House of Wax”) and Kevin Durand (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) will play police officers in the timely indie drama “Fruitvale” at Significant Productions says Variety.

Based on a true-life police shooting, Michael B. Jordan plays a young Bay Area resident who was detained and killed by BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) cops in Oakland on New Year’s Eve in 2008.

The event was captured on camera, and the ensuing trial and its verdict spurred protests and riots. Filming will take place at the actual Fruitvale station where the shooting took place.

Ahna O’Reilly, Octavia Spencer, Melonie Diaz and Tristan Wilds also star. Ryan Coogler penned and will direct the film.
