Murphy & Brady Set For “Santa” Trilogy

Tab Murphy (“Tarzan,” “Atlantis: The Lost Empire”) will write and Colin Brady (“Everyone’s Hero”) will direct “The Legend of Santa Claus” for Lumenas Animation Studios says Variety.

The first film in a proposed trilogy will explore the early days and mythology of the Christmas hero. This version will bring greedy elves, vain snowfairies and other fantastical creatures into the 18th century tale of young Nicholas.

The film will be shot in Lumenas’ ‘All Motion’ technique, a blending of stop-motion and digital animation. A November 2010 release is planned with subsequent chapters opening in 2012 and 2014.

Brady is attached to the CG-animated film based on the classic cartoon “The Smurfs” also for release in 2010, though this move means that film is likely on hold for now.
