Some new details have emerged about ABC’s proposed small screen revival of “The Muppets” franchise.
EW reports that the new show will be a mockumentary-style series that goes deeper into the character’s personal lives. A recent pilot presentation of the series has been described as having a “30 Rock” feel.
The tone of the new show, which the network is considering for a straight-to-series order, is also said to be ‘more adult’ than previous incarnations of the franchise. Here’s the official longline:
“The Muppets return to prime time with a contemporary, documentary-style show that – for the first time ever – will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires; a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages.”
New details about the series are expected to be announced at ABC’s upfront presentation next month.
