MTV has renewed its fantasy drama series “The Shannara Chronicles” for a second season, no episode order or premiere date is yet set.
Based on the bestselling books by Terry Brooks, the story follows the Elvin princess Amberle, human Eretria and elf-human hybrid Wil on their quest to save the world from an evil demon.
The series ranked among cable’s top ten series this spring in both adults 18-49 and total viewers, the finale getting a 0.81 and 1.77 million total viewers in Live+3 results. It also ranked as the highest grossing digital download for a single season on MTV in the network’s history.
Poppy Drayton, Ivana Baquero and Austin Butler, James Remar, Brooke Williams, Daniel MacPherson and Marcus Vanco star and are all expected back for the new season. Jon Favreau, Jonathan Liebesman, Dan Farah, Brooks, Al Gough and Miles Millar executive produce.
