Despite having only aired five episodes of its ten episode run so far, MTV has announced that it has picked up its “Scream” TV series for a second season. The series launched late June with the pilot pulling in a total viewership of six million viewers.
The story focuses on the search for a murderer who killed the town’s popular girl, Nina (Bella Thorne) and explores whether the previous generation’s killer – Brandon James – has returned.
Though an anthology style nature has been discussed, the producers say they will reveal the killer in the season finale and hope to follow a more traditional format with us following the same characters after they go through their first experiences. The hope is to keep as much of the core cast on board as possible.
