In the wake of the company’s misfortune and constantly changing terms and conditions, it’s understandable that some subscribers to movie ticket service MoviePass are cancelling their subscription.
Now though it appears the company isn’t making it so easy. In fact, Business Insider) (via Digital Trends) reports some previous subscribers who canceled their accounts in the past few days and weeks have received an email letting them know that they have been automatically re-enrolled back into the service as part of new plan changes.
Several of these users received an email from MoviePass with a note on the bottom saying: “if you had previously requested cancellation prior to opting-in, your opt-in to the new plan will take priority and your account will not be canceled.”
Some of those users reportedly tried to then go through the steps to cancel their accounts again, but find they are only receiving an error message while attempting to do so.
The company is expected to permanently implement a new plan on Wednesday, August 15th that will allow subscribers to pay $10 per month to see up to three movies during that period – this time allowing them to see any film they want in that time (unlike the previous few days).
