Motherland Fort Salem Gets A Series Order

Freeform has handed out a ten-episode series order to “Motherland: Fort Salem,” an alternate history fantasy series in which witches have agreed to fight for the United States in exchange for an end to their persecution.

The series follows three young women from basic training in combat magic into terrifying and thrilling early deployment. In this world, the traditional roles of gender and power are flipped with women on the front lines to fight looming and terrorist threats that are strikingly familiar to our world, but with supernatural tactics and weapons.

Taylor Hickson, Jessica Sutton, Amalia Holm and Demetria McKinney star in the series created and written by Eliot Laurence (“Claws”) who will serve as showrunner. Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Kevin Messick, Maria Maggenti and Steven Adelson serve as executive producers with the latter two directing.
