The upcoming “Mortal Kombat” film reboot is adding two locals to its line-up.
Australians Jessica McNamee (“The Meg”) and Josh Lawson (“House of Lies”) have been cast as Sonya Blade and Kano respectively.
In addition, Lewis Tan (“Deadpool 2”) is in final negotiations for an undisclosed role with some suggesting Scorpion. The trio will join Joe Taslim (Sub Zero), Mehcad Brooks (Jax), Tadanobu Asano (Raiden), Sisi Stringer (Mileena) and Ludi Lin (Liu Lang) in the cast.
Story details of the new take on the property remain under wraps. The original game and previous 1995 film adaptation followed a group of warriors assembled to compete in a tournament to protect the Earth from the demonic forces of Outworld.
Shooting kicks off in South Australia later this year ahead of a March 5th 2021 release.
