“Kick-Ass” star Chloe Moretz and “Marley and Me” actress Haley Bennett are said to be the main contenders for the title role in “Carrie” reports Vulture.
Kimberly Peirce helms this new adaptation of Stephen King’s first novel, one that is said to be much closer to the source material than the previous Brian DePalma 70’s film.
The two are said to be ahead of a list of impressive candidates including Dakota Fanning, Emily Browning, Bella Heathcote and Lily Collins who have all done readings.
Shailene Woodley (“The Descendants”) reportedly already passed on an offer for the title role.
Meanwhile Peirce has also allegedly approached Jodie Foster and is interested in Julianne Moore to take on the role of Carrie’s abusive mother.
