As part of a cover story this week, EW has also revealed fresh story details in regards to the upcoming second season of the Netflix original series “Stranger Things”.
The second season is set a year after Will’s return with everything seemingly back to normal. However, a darkness lurks just beneath the surface, threatening all of Hawkins.
Show co-creator Matt Duffer says Will Byers will be seeing visions of the Upside Down, and he’s not sure if they’re real or not. Winona Ryder’s Joyce has a new love interest in the form of an old high school classmate (Sean Astin).
There’s also a new brother-sister pair of Billy and Max (Dacre Montgomery, Sadie Sink) with Billy becoming a new antagonist to the boys and Max something of a love interest for Lucas and Dustin.
Paul Reiser’s Dr. Owens is the new man in charge of the city’s mysterious Lab, while Chief of Police Jim Hopper (David Harbour) will be trying to keep the events of the first season a secret.
The big question – where’s Eleven? Duffer says: “I want people to know that she’s back and she’s a major part of the season and not know how or why. We do get into her story and backstory. We learn about where she came from and how she came into the world and the program that resulted in her.”
Finally, Duffer also confirmed that some of the episode titles previously announced will not be used, indeed it appears some were decoys to stop fans doing a “Westworld” and guessing the entire season’s storyline beforehand.
The second season of “Stranger Things” premieres at Halloween.
