As we know, both The CW’s “Arrow” and their upcoming “The Flash” series share the same on-screen universe. This week network president Mark Pedowitz reiterated to AdWeek that the chances of the shows crossing over with other DC Comics-based shows like Fox’s “Gotham,” NBC’s “Constantine” or CBS’ upcoming “Supergirl” are unlikely.
He did, however, indicate the two shows may well be joined by others on the network in the near future. He tells the publication:
“What you’ll see embedded in Flash and Arrow is that we’ll have the ability to test characters out. Is there room to grow them into the next show? I can’t tell you yet. There are discussions going on.”
How soon that will be is anyone’s guess. The network tested the waters for “The Flash” by dropping Grant Gustin as Barry Allen into two episodes of “Arrow” last season – the results were so well-received the show went forward.
Whether we’ll see a repeat of that this year, and what further potential spin-off shows could be, is anyone’s guess at the moment. Meanwhile, the big crossover episode of the two shows is being filmed right now and actor Stephen Amell posted a photo of his and Grant Gustin’s in-costume legs together taking a break during filming.
