Following FOX’s upfront presentation today, network chairman Dana Walden revealed that a new series of its action drama “24” may be on the way.
As part of an upfront press call, Walden says executive producer Howard Gordon is working with creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran on a possible new iteration. 20th Century Fox, Imagine TV and Gordon had all been discussing new ideas since the end of “24: Legacy” last season. Walden would not elaborate further though.
‘Legacy’ was the first season of the series not to involve actor Kiefer Sutherland who has been starring in ABC’s “Designated Survivor”. With that show being cancelled this week, could Sutherland return to the Jack Bauer role?
Meanwhile, President of FOX Entertainment Michael Thorn revealed that a new installment of “Prison Break” remains “in early stages of development… we are focusing on getting the next iteration right.”
Finally, FOX chairman Gary Newman says the network has no plans to do any more episodes of “The X-Files”. Speaking today, he says: “Its been a great show for the network but there are no plans to do another season at the moment.”
