Tracking figures suggest that “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” is set to launch to $120-125 million over this weekend.
That would put it on part with the first part of ‘Mockingjay’ and the weakest opening in franchise history. Nevertheless it would also be the fourth biggest opening of the year behind “Jurassic World,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Furious 7”.
The first two films in the series opened just above $150 million. Early buzz for this final film is quite strong and far better than the word surrounding the first part of ‘Mockingjay’. ‘Mockingjay – Part 2’ is expected to premiere on roughly 4,000 screens.
