Disney Animation Studios’ “Moana” is reportedly projected to gross $75 million or more over the five-day Thanksgiving holiday which gets underway tomorrow.
Reviews so far for the film have been superb and it is currently holding an 82/100 on Metacritic. Holdover “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is expected to slip to second following its $74.4 million debut in North America this past weekend.
Also opening this week are Robert Zemeckis’ World War II spy thriller “Allied” which is expected to hover around $20 million, the R-rated black comedy “Bad Santa 2” at about $16 million, and Warren Beatty’s “Rules Don’t Apply” at around $8 million. ‘Rules’ and “Allied” are scoring mixed reviews so far, ‘Santa’ is being panned.
