IMAX Corporation and Paramount Pictures have made it official – “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” will get IMAX previews five days early starting December 16th, the first time a domestic feature release has been released early in IMAX.
So why is this being done? Turns out that around thirty minutes of the completed film was shot with IMAX cameras and these specific sequences will expand to fill the entire screen, much like what we saw with “The Dark Knight” back in 2008.
One such sequence will be Tom Cruise’s scaling of the Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai, the world’s tallest building. More details can be found within the press release.
The film will be released in regular theatres on December 21st.
