One of the most enjoyable additions to the “Fast and Furious” franchise in the newest entry is that of Helen Mirren. The legendary actress had previously suggested a role in the film series was an ambition of hers and soon after she was given a cameo in this year’s “The Fate of the Furious”.
The nature of that cameo wasn’t clear though. Mirren indicated that she sadly doesn’t do any driving in the film, but does share at least one scene with Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto character. Today, a former series co-star Luke Evans seems to have given away Mirren’s role. To be fair, he has the right considering she plays his mother. Asked by Yahoo about his sixth film villain Owen Shaw ever returning, he says:
“People come around from comas, so who knows? He’s in a military hospital because he’s the most wanted man in the world, but he’s got a very powerful brother [Jason Statham], and he’s now got a mum as well, who’s played by Helen Mirren.”
The new film sees Statham’s Deckard Shaw forming an unlikely alliance with Luke (Dwayne Johnson) and Dom’s family after Dom (Vin Diesel) sells them all out for Cipher (Charlize Theron). “The Fate of the Furious” opens April 14th.
