One of the most exciting bits of casting for the upcoming eighth “Fast and the Furious” film is that of Dame Helen Mirren in an unknown role. Specifics of the part have been non-existent, although it’s known to be only a cameo.
Speaking about her role in the film with EW, the actress revealed that it’s literally one day of filming for her and sadly she doesn’t get to drive. She’s also, surprisingly, very nervous about tackling the part:
“I wanted to be driving, but unfortunately, I’m not. Maybe that will come in the future, in Fast and Furious 12. I’m probably one of the few people on the set who know how to drive a gear shift car. I doubt The Rock knows. But I do. I know how to double declutch.
I’m very nervous because when you’re going on to a set with people who have been doing this for [so long], basically, they all know each other, they’ve worked together, they know what they’re doing. I’ll be, you know, the newcomer, the newbie. I’ve only got one day, and I’ll probably f-ck it up, oh God. I think they’ll be nice to me. I hope they’ll be nice to me.”
Mirren had previously expressed interest in getting involved in the series which led to her scoring this small but key role.
