Filming officially begins today on location in London on Bill Condon’s “The Good Liar” for New Line Cinema. Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen pair on screen for the first time in the movie based on the acclaimed book by Nicholas Searle.
McKellen plays a career con artist who can hardly believe his luck when he meets well-to-do widow Betty McLeish (Mirren) online. As Betty opens her home and life to him, Roy is surprised to find himself caring about her, turning what should be a cut-and-dry swindle into the most treacherous tightrope walk of his life.
Russell Tovey and Jim Carter co-star in the film which Condon will direct and produce from a screenplay by Jeffrey Hatcher (“Mr. Holmes”). Greg Yolen also produces the film which will also shoot in Berlin and opens next year.
